I've seen posts, and have generally felt it myself, that the GD is not as much fun as it used to be.

I know, some very fun members, who almost acted as 'glue' to encourage easy-going input, have disappeared (StrawberryShortcake is certainly the one I have missed the most).

But here's the deal: What is it? What can we do?

We sort of got all the hostile confrontation relegated to the Politics sub-forum (and yes, I readily admit that I am a part of all that), but let's just have the kind of fun we like in here - in the GD.

What is missing?

I would love to think of a new thread that would engage everybody, but that's not an easy task.

Any ideas?

I personally feel the forum is far nicer now than when I first joined.
The people saying the forum has got dull/boring /samey need to step up and make it fun for them.
People have always come and gone as the mood takes them and a few of the old faces didn't like positive change
A step away from the seedy and sordid nature that porn inheritantly has and removed the stigma. Its not just a porn forum. It's where friends and folk I care about hang out. Far less hiding on here. Can see as much as you want, warts and all
It's that free nature that makes the forum fun

It’s not just in the GD section of this forum, nor is it just in XNXX, it’s everywhere that social intercourse takes place. People seem to be walking on eggshells, afraid to offend because the reaction by others is unusually hostile.
There was a time that one could have a conversation about virtually any subject without fear of being ostracized for being insensitive to some group or another.

 

Honestly nothing has changed for me. I think the forum just seems more peaceful and friendly with less drama and arguments and nasty posts. I haven’t been here a long time though so I don’t know what it was like ages ago. I noticed a lot of members who were here years ago have left. I think it’s just the natural flow of the forum where people leave, either for a while or forever. Life just gets in the way.

But I think losing a friend here would make it less fun for sure. Friends are why I come here, more than for the porn or anything else.

Here's some things i notice. I have been here a while. When someone post a thread needing sound advice it would be cool to offer some. If they post in the wrong forum joking with them is great fun. I mean people love comical people and to laugh. We just don't have to be mean about it. When we give opinions or discuss topics do they all have to be judgy and rude? Actually also, alot has to do with how people take things that were not meant to be taken in that way. When women post pics they're being brave and are sexy. All of them are. So everyone could make them feel comfortable and give them praise. Not some stranger that's never even spoke to you saying shit you wouldn't even say to a blow up doll!! Lol

I swear people used to have problems or arguments but in all we would work shit out. If not we would just not interact with said person any longer. Not follow them around stirring shit. Lol

 

We could play anal golf to lighten the mood.

Energy levels vary on here. I've been here a while and that has always been the same.
If there is some mythologising the GD of the past I can tell you it's bullshit: there are and have always been great people, arseholes, cool kids, interesting minds and misfits on here.
There are people who are genuinely interested in people and people just wanting to show their dicks and talk dirty.

Some previous posters it would be nice to see return, others (not the ones already mentioned on this thread - I only ever had positive interactions with both) only ever seemed to come here to start shit.

My advice, for what it's worth, is this: if the current threads bore you, start ones that interest you. They don't need to appeal to everyone, as long as you as OP genuinely find the topic interesting. Maybe people will join in, maybe they won't and the thread will drop to the oblivion of page 17, but it's the only way to make the change you seem to be looking for.

 

#1. Any member who starts a thread in GD, that doesn't belong in GD, gets their avatar changed to a picture of a dunce cap for one week and the thread stays in GD during that time.
#2. Every Monday, Stan spins a Wheel Of Suspension and whoevers username it lands on can't post for 24 hours, but instead of the red "Suspended!" banner, it's blue so we all know why and can make fun of them.
#3. A petting zoo, because who doesn't love a petting zoo?
(regular posters in Sexuality are free to visit the petting zoo but we're keeping an eye on you.)

 

I think there should be more emphasis on reducing flaming and less of an emphasis on prohibiting the discussion of controversial issues. I am of course interested. I enjoy discussing controversial issues. I discuss them with courtesy, logic, and fact based arguments. Nevertheless, I am deficient when it comes to composing insults. My parents raised me differently.
